Hi Sharon

Yes I have the birth certificate for Albert Purvis but unlike Australian birth certificates they don't list the parents dates of birth or other children.

It just says mother 'Annie Purvis formerly Binnie" and father "James Purvis" address being 22 Station Road Hebburn.

The James I am looking for didn't die as he had a son Albert etc.  Based on what I could find he married in 1914 which as I said seems a little young and his last child born 1928 so cant have died before then.

I also think his father is William Purvis born 1864 - but could be 1866/1869 as census records don't add up for same family - he married an Esther Brown born 1877.  They married in 1897 and had James and his other siblings.  The other strange thing I have come accross is that he had a daughter Marshline - although it seems her name then became Marshalian - is it common for spelling to change as there is a birth cert for Marshline but then a marriage for Marshalian - and no birth record for Marshalian.

I am going to purchase records through the findmypast website but it isn't processing payments at the moment so waiting and will try again later.

I am very thankful for your help and the others that have replied - and so quickly much appreciated.

Thanks
Jasmina

Thanks
Jasmina

I didn't mean James senior, I meant the brother James.

Hi there,
First of this is my first post on this site so it is nice to be able to help someone straight off.
I am a half grand nephew of Annie Binnie. Her father Richard was married three times she was one of 3 daughters in the first marriage I am descended from his 3rd marriage.
I can't give you much on the Purvis side of the family other than James and Annie were married in Jesmond parish church in the 4th quarter of 1914 in volume 10b page 93 of free BMD registers. I noticed you mentioned an Esther Brown in relation to Purvis which struck me as strange as Annies Mother was Esther Elizabeth Brown b.abt 1893 and d.1903. She married Richard Binnie in Killingworth Church 21 Nov 1891. Elizabeths father was John Brown a miner from wedding certificate. I have a lot more info on Annies sisters and father, including photos, if you are interested.
