Hi there

Did find a John F Wass who died the 2nd quarter of 1920 aged 67.  Born
about 1853 and registered in Eccleshall Bierlow. He could have moved
from Grantham.
His parents were James and Harriett born 1822.

I think he married Agnes mary Trusswell (b.c.1870 Northants) it looks like she died before 1911 -but can't find them in 1901

Now here's a little puzzle

It looks like John Frederick Wass married Agnes Mary trusswell -marriage reg 1895
Where are they in 1901?????

Agnes mary  died 1909

Death reg freeBMD
Agnes mary Wass
Mar qtr 1909
age 39
Doncaster
9c 528

then it seems John Frederick married for a 3rd time
Marriage reg
John F Wass
Clara Brannan
Sept qtr 1912
Ecclesall Bierlow
9c 821

Clara Brannan was a widow (b.Sheffield)

Strange thing is
Clara Brannan was in same household in 1911 - but John Frederick was calling himself John Frederick Johnson ????
Which of course was his 1st wife's maiden name?????

No wonder we find it hard finding our ancestors, especially when they
change their names lol ???

So the death I found was correct then, phew I am glad about that

Hi Sandymc47,

It seems the death reg you found is very possibly correct ......but I have just discovered something else a little puzzling ???

I think John Frederick Wass was calling himself  "Frederick Johnson" in 1901 -and is lodging with Clara Brannan

1901
18 Bailey St Sheffield Yks
Clara Brannan Head MARRIED 45 Sheffield Yks
Joseph Phillips son 17 Engineer Turner & Fitter London
Albert Phillips son 14 Errand Boy Sheffield
Grace brannan daughter 6 Sheffield
Bernard Brannan son 3 Sheffield
FREDERICK JOHNSON lodger MARRIED 48 Tailor Grantham Notts
Lily Johnson Lodger 7 Grantham
RG13 4361 64 21

so both Clara and "Frederick" were married - do you think they had left their respective spouses ?

and who was Lily Johnson? -she could be Sarah (John F's first wife)'s child???

It looks like Clara Brannan was married to a Mr Phillips first???

And where is Agnes mary???

1911 some of the Brannan children are in the same household as John Frederic

Think more investigation is needed

Wow!!! you are both wonderfull, all that information found in a few hour's, certainly given me lots of help, l am going to enjoy sorting all this out, and possably send for the death cert, plus marriage cert,
it seems strange that his son James( my grandad never told his daughter (my mum) about her grandad remarrying, my mum born 1917 oldest of 12 children said she never saw or heard of  john Frederick and none of her siblings mentioned him might have been because John F moved out the area, thank you both again going to have a go at sorting this out,
                  Regards June

think I have sorted Clara out ????

It seems she was Clara Steele who married
1 Henry Phillips
2 Martin Brannan
3. John Frederick Wass

Looks like she was living with John Frederick Wass (alias Johnson) before Martin Brannan died???
Her children are named Brannan /Phillips -it varies from census to census

do you require marriages etc??
