trying to find info on 4 brothers , Robert Francis brown, william brown, samuel brown and lexie brown who were born in Cloghoge, creggan parish armagh, ireland.
Robert arrived in New York in 1913 and in 1930 was living in chicago with wife Ola and daughter Frances.his date of naturalization was 1940. Lexie came to live with him and his naturalization was 1936. he was a widower who left behind a young family in cloghoge. i think he married again in usa.
Samuel arrived in new york in 1911 and in 1930 was living in new jersey with wife magda. he died in chicago in 1941.
william arrived new york in 1912. i think he was also living in chicago in the 1930s and 1940s.
i don't know what happened to my great uncles after this and would love to hear from anyone who may have them in their family tree. my grandfather was one of the 2 brothers who stayed in northern ireland.

Robert F. Brown died 13 Jul. 1961, Cook Co., Illinois. There is an obit for him in the Chicago Tribune, which notes him as the husband of Ola, father of 3 children and grandfather of 5, and brother of William, Alexander, & Thomas.

thank you for the quick response and for the info. he was one of 6 brothers, my grandfather was the Thomas mentioned and his other brother Herbert in ireland had died before1961. i think i can then assume that his other brother samuel died before him as well.

I have a Robert Browne christened in Cloghoge 1922 to a Robert Browne and Elzabeth Mcelwaine. Would this be any relation to you? Any information on this would help us a lot.
Thank you

i'm not sure if he is related. i did have an uncle Robert alexander Brown born 1918 in Belfast , where my grandparents were living for a few years. i also had a great uncle Robert francis Brown born Cloghoge in1898 and i know he went to USA. my family didn't have an "E" on their Brown but some of my Dad's cousins were Brownes, as their father Lexie Brown married Jean Browne.( both from Creggan/ Cloghoge area in co armagh. jean died when the 5 children were very young and Lexie went to USA where he joined his brothers. some of the children were reared by their Brown grandparents ( my greatgrandparents) and the rest reared by their Browne grandparents . these children were born 1919, 1920,1921, 1924 and 1927, so maybe your Robert is related to their Browne side of the family. Jean Browne's parents were john Brown and jean Nelson. i will see if i can find out anything more for you. have you looked at Creggan historical society web site which i have found really useful.
