A Robert Bunce bc.1811 was buried st St. Peter, Woolhampton, Berkshire on 1/5/1836 - perhaps this was her husband.   It would seem she only had one child with him i.e. George and I would agree that Amos is almost certainly a son of William Cook and Hannah.   He would have had to be shown as Bunce on birth/baptism records as that was his mothers legal surname at the time.

That death seems much more likely than the 1849 one I found :) but I wonder why it took William and Hannah until 1842 to get married?

I have been asking myself the same question, what i have been pondering is that he was born in 1796 so he was 46 when he married hannah and she was listed as being 25 on the 1841 census so she was only 26 when they married. Dont get me wrong i have nothing against age gap marrages but this could mean there was another wife before hannah and possible children from that marrage. I do love this every time i think i have the answers they only give me more questions lol.

Tina

i have found another possible marrage of William Cook to Jane Stocker 1820 in Thatcham Berkshire, i also found 4 children:
john cook 1821
Hannah Cook 1824
jane cook 1828
Henry Cook 1830

The problem i have now is that on the 1841 census it is not showing any of these living with there father (henry being only 11 would he have already moved out). I also found a death record of a jane cook on 24 jul 1831 berkshire which would leave william free to marry again, would his marrage cert to hannah show if he was a widower?

Not your William married to Jane.

They appear with children living in Thatcham in 1841.

I have a Cook family tree going back to 1760s Berkshire but none of your names and dates coincide with mine so must be another branch.
My Cooks hailed from West Shefford and Hampstead Norris.
My Gt grandmother was Ellen Cook born 1876 Basildon, Berks.
We might be related?

ok have received the birth cert and marriage cert, on Amos bunces birth cert it shows no father so that was no surprise, the marriage cert for william and hannah was a bit more interesting it showed that none of them could write as they marked there names with an X which i suppose was common but it also showed williams father was also william which has now put me right back to square one as i thought his fathers name was thomas, so all the research i had already was wrong.

Your William Cook was, according to census, bc.1796 Englefield, Berkshire.   He was actually a couple of years out:

William Cook bp.11/2/1798 Englefield, Berkshire, son of William and Amelia
at least 3 siblings:
Elizabeth bp.23/3/1800
James bp.1801 (full date not shown)
Richard bp.10/7/1803

William Cook married Amelia Wise 9/7/1797 Sulhampstead Banister, Berks.
(Sulhampstead just SE of Englefield).
