It might be worth contacting Bath Guildhall Archives to see if they have copies of the licence of Thomas's marriage.........sometimes gives a bit more info than just the marriage entry.....and anyway its always nice to see copies of the orginal entries. They are very helpful too:

Hi

The marriage doesn't appear on FreeREG at the moment. There seems to be a bit of a problem with our Bathampton files. The only extra details we have are the witnesses, who were George BUTCHER and Hannah CHARMBURY.

There are also two Hughes baptisms
15 Jun 1788   Sarah   F   James   Elizabeth   HUGHES
17 Oct 1790   John    M   James   Elizabeth   HUGHES

:DThanks to everybody I've managed to trace my Hughes family back from Sarah to William Hughes, her grandfather who died 1820. He was the father of Dorcas Hughes b 1773 Camerton, d 1852 Bathampton. She married John Croome Charmbury 1773-1813. Her brother James married Sarah Unknown and was the mother of Sarah who married Thomas Butcher.

Now if possible I would love to find out about William Hughes who died in 1820 and presumably married about 1770 - does this ring a bell with anyone?
Many thanks
Honor

Marriages in the timeframe you are seeking

http://www.freereg.org.uk/cgi/Search.pl

That link didn't work, so there is a marriage of William HUGHES to Mary JONES on 9 Oct 1773 at Walcot St Swithins. (which you can find using the FreeReg link)

Still not sure what's happening with the Bathampton files in FreeREG, and any changes I make won't show to the next periodic update anyway. But if you care to join the Bath Forum Hundred group, you can download spreadsheet versions there - and find more people with family interests in the Bath area.
