Who Fancies A Challange???
« on: Monday 02 April 12 10:51 BST (UK) »
I have a right fiddly one..

Joseph Bernard Scarle married Ada Elizabeth Brown in 1905 in Langley Mill (Basford District.
On 1911 census he is living in Heanor with wife and kids - which says he was born 1879 in Leicestershire.
He died 1927 in Heanor aged 48. (as Bernard Scarle)

So far so good yes?? Well where the heck was he before that??!!
There is no sign of any Joseph Bernard Scarle on any other census records and NO birth record for that name or anything like that..
What am I missing???

Have you tried looking under the name Searle.....I can imagine Scarle easily being mis-transcribed as Searle

That's great news isn't it. We knew people called Scahill which was pronounced in a similar fashion - or Sca- hill.

good luck  :)
