Hi
The Commonwealth War Graves Commission have his death date as 18th January, 1919 not December 1918 so perhaps that is why you can`t find his death certificate.

Maybe he died in a military hospital in England? If he did then there was the option of his body been sent home for burial
He wasnt "discharged" according to his Medal Card If SDGW states "Home" it could be anywhere in UK so odds are in hospital

Hi
Is that info about "Home" from Ancestry? or other local/family sources
If its from Soldiers Died In Great War off Ancestry then "home" could be anywhere in UK

There's the death of a 32 year old William Kerr in England in March Quarter of 1919, District of Wandsworth, on FreeBMD
http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
There were Military Hospitals in the area. http://www.1914-1918.net/hospitals_uk.htm
He's listed in the Scotsman, 21 May, 1917, among the Cameronians wounded as - Kerr, 240324, W. (Bargeddie)
