Marriage of James Lee & Mary Clarke parish of Ematris
« on: Wednesday 28 March 12 18:13 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I recently got a copy of a certificate from my gran who sadly passed away on may of last year....Now I knew some of the details previously but now I have the cetificate I can confirm what is actually on it.

It is a marriage certificate for a James Lee to a Mary Clarke. on the 28th November 1918. witnesses Peter & Mary Reilly. Celebrant E.J.Quigley p.p.

The marriage took place in the parish of Ematris in the Diocese of Clogher.

It was a copy certificate given at coravacan on the 13th march 1939 signed by a C Eardley??? (not very clear)

My problem is I have been away from family history for about a year now and feel I am starting all over again.  What I am looking for is any information on birth, parents where they where born and when they travelled to Scotland in which they spent the majority of their lives as my Gran was born here and they both died here....I know where they are buried too.

If anyone has any further info to help would be so appreciated......Sorry to go over old ground.

Thanks in advance :-)

possibly James with his family on the 1911 census :

Lee household - Kilmore East townland

The townland of Kilmore East is in Ematris civil parish - so fits with the marriage details...

and in 1901

  Lee household - Aghabog townland

possible marriage for William and Mary Anne in Monaghan Registration district, which is immediately north of the Cootehill district where they are living in 1901 and 1911

  Name: William Lee
  Registration district:   Monaghan
  Event type: Marriage
Quarter and year: Jan - Mar 1895
  Volume:   3 / Page: 239

A Mary Anne Conlon appears with the same references.

for notes on ordering a research marriage cert, and the details they contain see :
     Ordering Certs from GRO Roscommon
Details included on a Marriage Cert

Does the marriage cert you have for James and Mary Clarke have places of residence for the bride and groom, and occupations etc  ?

Just looked at the g/stone for Lee in Ematris which was put up by another person..as you can see the stone is not very legible, here is my photo of it..not much better but might be more legible for you.

As the g/stone has nothing to do with me I just photo them as they are!!

Hi Shane,

Thanks for the quick response much appreciated.

There are none of the details you asked about on the certificate it is not the full cert but an extract that they must have got its dated 1939...this has been my problem I have managed to trace my scottish roots no problem but I have always struggled with this line of the family....It may just be conlon now i look at it..thanks
