Inchigeelagh Parish..historical info needed

I am trying to verify if the Catholic Church in Inchigeelagh was know by the locals (circa 1830) of that time as the "Church of the 7 Bells"..or "Church of the 7 hills".
 
 My Mary Murphy (who we believe was from the Cork area) always told her family that the name of the church where she was christened was "Church of the 7 Bells"..or "Church of the 7 hills". We don't know her actual birth date, as she used March 17th (St Patrick's Day, as used by many Irish who  didn't read or write).
I found an entry in the LDS records that state this Mary Murphy was christened here 14 Nov 1828...but there is NO DOCUMENTATION to this info..with so many Mary Murphy in Cork, I am trying to verify this is MY Mary Murphy...as so many of this name were born 1828 in Cork.

Inchigeelagh was in the RC parish of Ivyleary and baptism records are included on the IrishGenealogy website from the earliest date available, which is 1818, but mysteriously come to a halt at the end of November 1826.  There's no mention on the NLI Index or Irish Times about missing dates, so maybe the later years have yet to be processed for IrishGenealogy.

There are extracted baptisms records on FamilySearch for three separate Mary Murphys in Inchigeelagh during 1828 - 13 Sep 1828, 29 May 1828  and 14 Nov 1828.  RC baptisms would usually be soon after birth - generally within a couple of days.

other than this possible clue to location - do you have any additional details on your Mary that could help confirm, or rule out, potential baptisms ?

e.g. parents names from a marriage or death cert, details from a headstone or death notice, place of birth on census return or immigration record etc...

no no no...to everything.....this is why I am so challenged!

The only documentation I have is :

1861 census: as Mary Engman, living W.Darby, Liverpool  w/ her child
1861 census: her husband Charles (Carl) Engman as sailor aboard ship Braganza @Holyhead, Anglesy
1859 birth certif: 1st child Anna Engman b. Liverpool
1861 christening: 2nd child Sara Engman (written Ingman) @ St Albans Church, Liverpool
1863 death certif: 2nd child, Liverpool
1863 ship's Pass list: showing birth of 3rd child Charles Innman (Engman) aboard ship to America

I have not found any marriage record.

She signed her Will (Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA) w/ "X"..

We believe she is from Cork area as she used to send her son to buy the Cork newspaper

She always told her family she was christened in the "Church of the 7 Bells"..or "Hills"..no one can remember her mentioning a name.of village..

we think she had a brother (named Hugh?)...possible twin??

since her 1st born daughter was Anna Theresa...maybe she was named after Mary's mother? I do have her death certif.(@ my summer cottage where I will be next month)..Believe her mother is listed only as Ann (w/ no family name)

we don't know if the info (b. Inchigeelagh as per LDS) is accurate, as no one signed the entry, or any documentation tying this Mary Murphy to ENGMAN.  If we knew this church was known locally as "Church of the 7 Bells" as she stated....I would then consider this Mary Murphy likely to be my Mary Murphy.

Those records are extracted RC parish records of baptism - so I'd expect them to be accurate. As mentioned in the other post I also think that 7 Bells more likely refers to a Church of Ireland church.. possibly St. Anne's Shandon.

The main problem though is the very common name  and the fact that not all parishes have records back to 1828 - so there's no guarantee that a written record of baptism exists for 'your' Mary.

"Church of Ireland" ?...did they also enter Catholic baptisms?

She was a devote Catholic..one of her sons committed suicide because she forbade  him to "marry outside the church"

But then, she married a Finnish sailor!   ?

There is something odd going on with Inchigeelagh parish on IrishGenealogy. Although the transcriptions stop in 1826 but when you change the pdf number in the url to the next in the sequence, the pdfs are actually there. This is the pdf for Nov 1828 mentioning Mary Murphy

I'm only familiar with Inchigeelagh in a passing way but if the name of the church is literal, I can't imagine a church in a very rural parish like this having seven bells. Shandon seems to have eight bells. Seven hills would be more likely in this area but I'm not sure you have enough evidence to  be definitive. If no one here can tell you about Inchigeelagh, there does seem to be some historical societies in the area and they should be able to help you. More generally, you could look at diocesan histories. For Cork & Ross, there is Angela Bolster's History of the Diocese of Cork. I don't know though about histories of the other dioceses that cover Cork.
