Here's Alexander Patton in 1911 census-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Armagh/Lurgan_Urban/Market_Street/296275

... which made it very easy to find Alexander Patton in 1901 still in Market St., Lurgan- given as retired merchant, single, able to read and write (unlike 1911)-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Armagh/Lurgan_Urban/Market_Street/1025908
It's possible that son-in-law meant 'single' as not married rather than stating 'widower.'
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Death registration gives Margaret Patton's age as 64 so born c1846 and a bit young to be Alexander's wife (even if she hadn't died before 1901 as census indicate). Suspect this is the 1901 census record for Margaret who died 1910-

Yes I think you are right I never thought of searching on the 1901 for a Margaret Patton......

Ah! a ten year census and Alexander only ages by 5 years............and I thought that was a 'women' thing...

Although it gets me no further apart from you finding him on the 1901 which tells me she died ( or is likely to) prior to 1901 thank you and he was living in Dromore 1893...Lurgan 1901 BUT his daughter married in Blaris ( any thoughts why? Could it be a family church at Blaris?)

I need to look at Presbyterian records....any ideas where to start?

John Barclay's wife was Agnes McCammon.
Both had resided in the townland of Derrydrummuck before their marriage 22nd Novenber,1853 in Glascar Presbyterian Church. Margaret had a brother Nathaniel who inherited the Barclay farm.
I hope this is helpful.
