MARY ANN MAYHEW BUNGAY
« on: Monday 26 March 12 13:31 BST (UK) »
I wonder if anyone can help I would like to find any baptism records for my third great grandmother Mary from the 1841 census she was born about 1785 in Bungay Suffolk
She at some time married William Barber who was born about 1780 in Metfield Suffolk it would be great to clarify the date of the marriage

Thanks

These entries on the Suffolk Burial Index, but whether or not Enoch & Susanna lived in the parish in 1783 is another matter

Enoch Mayhew son of Enoch & Susanna (late Balls) buried 7 Apr 1793 Bungay St Mary.  This is the earliest entry in the name of Mayhew on the SBI at St Mary.

Also a Susannah Mayhew buried 31 Mar 1835 (age 85) & an Enoch Mayhew (abode Bungay Holy Trinity) buried 22 Sep 1837 (age 84) Bungay St Mary.  No notes on the SBI unfortunately to positively link Enoch & Susanna(h).

The SBI records Mayhew burials at Holy Trinity as well from 1745-1892

I found these entries on the familysearch website:
Edward Enoch BARBER bpt 4 Jul 1813 Mendham.  Parents William Barber & Mary Mayhew
Abi BARBER bpt 9 Jul 1815 Mendham. Parents William Barber & Mary Mayhew
Rebecca BARBER bpt 3 Jul 1823 Mendham.  Parents William Barber & Mary Mayhew

Mendham I think is one of the parishes which straddles the County boundary with Norfolk & as your couple were living in Harleston, Norfolk in 1851 it could be they married in Norfolk rather than Suffolk.

These burials are on the Suffolk Burial Index:
William BARBER (abode Redenhall) buried 5 Jun 1851 (72) Mendham All Saints
Mary BARBER (abode Redenhall with Harleston) buried 13 Jul 1861 (76) Mendham All Saints.

Mary Ann was widowed by 1861 living with her daughter (Rebecca Longfield) in Redenhall.

Hi Keziah
Thanks for your added input some other bits that I didn't know about the Mayhews
Luckily I found someone last night who had taken notes from the Mendham fiches on the Barber/Mayhews which gave me a wealth of information and he sent me a copy of William Barbers last and final testament which confirmed so much.

Thank you Keziah well appreciated 8)
