 There is a family named Duvalorezky who came to NZ in 1874 and one of their daughters was named Anna - I'm wondering if this could actually be the family but, once again, no family in NZ to follow up on.

Just returning to Gore...

According to LDS the DUVALOREZKY family you mentioned (arrival 1874 aboard the Sussex) were Johann (38y) and Catharina (28y) and their four daughters Maria (7y), Anna (5y), Catharina (3y) and Leonore (2y).

The Gore Cemetery website lists a John and Catherine DOVALOSKY buried in the same plot. The website says no headstone and no date of death but the Burial Locator CD says John d.1899 and Catherine d.1920 and headstone inscription on the Gore Cemetery fiche T01.38

I can look at the fiche later this week unless someone else offers.

The Burial Locator CD also has a separate entry for a Johan DOVOLOSKY d.1899 in Gore. Further information from the same Hokonui Heritage Centre that I mentioned in a previous post.

The age at death given for John DOVALOSKY and Johan DOVOLOSKY is the same (77 years) but they both disagree considerably with the age given for Johann DUVALOREZKY on the Sussex passenger list. If it's the same man he shaved fourteen years of his actual age when he emigrated.
