Johann Buchholz 1841-1926

Johann Buchholz came to NZ in 1872 with his wife Anna and two children.  They came to Canterbury on board the Palmerston.  Anna died in 1882 (can't find a death for her, can anyone?) and Johann remarried.  The question is...to whom?

Some family members believe his 2nd wife was Anna Dovolaska, born in 1868 in Hungary BUT I can find NO family of this name in NZ...or anywhere else!  There is a family named Duvalorezky who came to NZ in 1874 and one of their daughters was named Anna - I'm wondering if this could actually be the family but, once again, no family in NZ to follow up on.

To summarise:  looking for the death of the first Anna Buchholz (also known as Buchols and Bucholz) and looking for the name of wife number two (also called Anna but surname uncertain) and also their marriage date.  Their first child was born in 1890.

There is a John Bucholz on the naturalisation register, aged 69 years, from Poland, a Farmer and living in Gore, naturalised 8//9/1902.

Following through on that there is an Annie in the Gore Cemetery in the same plot as John:

Have you looked on the deaths microfiche instead of BDMH online?  The likelihood is that there has been a typographical error and due to the simplicity of the website search criteria, wouldn't be spotted otherwise.

There is a tree on Rootsweb recording this second marrige of Johan's on 7 April 1883 in Gore to:
Anna Dowaloska b. 1868 Kaschau, Hungrary d. 22 February 1899 in Gore. Anna was possibly 15 when she married. As with all Rootsweb trees you can contact the person who posted it.

The electoral roll index for the previous year (1881) lists a John BOUCHLES, living in East Gore.

CONS:

The above age at death is wrong by two years, assuming the age for Anna (28 years) listed on the Palmerston passenger list is correct.

The surname is wrong.

PROS:

Gore gets a mention.

There is an 1882 death.

I've checked the 1881 to 1883 Deaths fiches and there were no obvious listing for Anna BUCHOLZ or variants **that I could see**

The closest was the Anne BOUCHLES death I mentioned earlier.

Folio no. 1882/1819 - BOUCHLES, Anne

1882 = year of registration

1819 = Oct-Dec quarter in the Gore registration district.

There were only two deaths registered in Gore in the Oct-Dec quarter of 1882.
