Hello Half Pint

Looks as though Adam's older brother William TUNSTALL (bc 1877) was also at Hikurangi.

Our PapersPast website has a couple of mentions of Adam and there are several for "William" and "W". TUNSTALL. (> see "Northern Advocate" newspaper).

Hi

Adam Tunstall's newspaper death notice is not helpful! And I couldn't locate a notice for Ellen May ADLAM in the 'NZ Herald' although there may be one in the 'Auckland Star'. Her husband's notice was more helpful and provided the names of his stepdaughters - one may still be living hence the xxxx in the transcript. I'll .PM you those details.
Best wishes
Elli

Hi

I've located newspaper death notices for:

Myrtle Carruthers DAVIES (nee TUNSTALL) 1oct1920-25jan2009; this gives her late husband's name; her son's name and address; her sister's married name.

Philip William JONES 17sep1920-22oct1998; he married Myrtle's sister; the notice lists their 3 children and their spouses; the grandchildren

Robyn TUNSTALL died 25sep2002; the middle daughter of Thomas William Tunstall (1915-1997); son of William and Jane Tunstall, who are buried at Kaurihohore; the notice lists her sisters and a spouse; nieces and nephew.

As all the notices list living people, I'll PM them - may take 3 emails but we'll get there!!
Best wishes
Elli

Hi Half Pint,
Adam Gray Tunstall along with his brother William sailed from the Port of London on the 9th of June 1911. They were onboard the "Orvieto" of the Orient Line. The ship's manifest shows them to be heading for Sydney, from where they obviously went on the New Zealand. Both were described as Labourers, but had always worked as Miners.
