Attewell
« on: Tuesday 20 March 12 07:04 GMT (UK) »
Hi all
Can anyone help with this?
My ancestor Mary Attewell christened 4/8/1691 at Ruddington Notts parents William & Elizabeth.
There are a few William Attewells christened at Ruddington or Nottingham. One William 6/2/1675 , but the only William who married Elizabeth was married at Sneiton 1682 , but those dates don't add up or he was born much earlier but christened when he was older.
There is also William christened 10/7/1641 Ruddington who married Jane Dean 1671. I am wondering maybe William (1641) is William's (1675) & Mary's father, Jane died & he remarried  Elizabeth. I think William & Elizabeth also had children Francis & Hannah .
I hope someone can help

There is a burial for a Jane Attewell at Ruddington
20-8-1681 listed as wife of William.
00-5-1681 Jane Attewell dau of William
18-11-1681 Mary Attewell Dau of William.
As you pointed out a marriage took place in St Stephen Sneinton 24-11-1682 for William and Elizabeth Grocock.
There are some baptisms in Bunny St Mary the Virgin. To William Attawell and Elizabeth Varnham but this couple married in Bunny in 1680.
I could not find the baptism of your Mary or any siblings

Thanks for that info
The Jane Attewell could be Jane Dean who married William, if that is her it fits with what I thought may of happened she died he remarried. My Mary married Joseph Shelton in Ruddington 1716 . Francis 5/9/1686 William & Elizabeth, he married Margaret . A Hannah Attewell married John Dring 1716 Ruddington , she may not be Mary's sister ,  but she was married the same year as Mary so she could be.

Thanks again I appreciate the info
