John Carrington Dunn b 1878 Sunderland d Feb 1955 Western Cape South Africa

Hello, can someone help please?
My Great Uncle, John Carrington Dunn b 1878 in Sunderland Durham. He was awarded the 'Freeman of the City of Sunderland' for his contribution to the war whilst he was in the Imperial Yeomanry. He was then involved in the Boer War. He then emigrated to South Africa. We have seen him coming to/from England and South Africa on various ships passenger lists during the 1920/30's presumably to visit his parents??
We have found it very difficult to find out any more information about John C Dunn. We would love to know if he married and had children, which we could then possibly find out more from.
We have a record of his death in Feb 1955,Western Cape in South Africa.

Have you had a look at his estate papers?  There is a record on the South Africa national archives database http://www.national.archsrch.gov.za/sm300cv/smws/sm30ddf0?201203181853503E0EE406&DN=00000001 perhaps someone on the south africa board would be able to explain how to look at them.

No not really, I emailed the website that I was recommended and they never replied......its not easy to follow on the nasa or nars site. I have just tried to access your link too, and its coming up as unobtainable. Maybe its me!
I will try the roots.chat forum as Spidermonkey suggested as he did suggest I would need help to access these estate papers.

Hi All, Have received copies of John Carrington Dunn's estate papers and they confirm that JC Dunn had a wife. Her name was Sarah Isabel Johanna Dunn, born Cloete. Again I have not had much success in finding out more about her although I do know she was born in 1871 in the Cape Province and died in 1947 in Cape District.  Can anyone help with more information?
