Grimsby St Anthonys Orphanage Victor Street
« on: Sunday 18 March 12 11:36 GMT (UK) »
Hi All,

I am trying to trace the records of the above orphanage which I believe was run by the Sisters of St Joseph.  I am told it no longer exists.   Does anyone have any idea where the records may be kept for the period c1945-1955.  I am in Australia.

Hi, I am also looking for the records of St Anthony's Orphanage, Grimsby. My sisters were there for a short period of time during the war. The orphanage no longer exists but I am searching for the records. It was run by the Sisters of St Joseph I believe, I live in the county and will let you know if I find anything out.

Hi

Found this in the Grimsby Telegraph thought it might be of interest

http://www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/Orphanage-dreadful-place/story-11526598-detail/story.html

Also found this on the NE Lincs site so it seems this would be the place to write to

'Surviving records of the St Anthony’s Orphanage, Victor Street, Grimsby, which was in existence from 1900 to 1957 (previously from 1891 known as the Fisherlads’ Home) may be held by the Sisters of St Joseph of Peace, Sacred Heart Convent, Nottingham, NG3 5AZ. But few records seem to have survived'

Theres nothing left of the Orphanage now but it will be worth looking at the Grimsby Telegraph site as there will probably be more photos
