Agnes McGannon birthplace please
« on: Sunday 18 March 12 01:46 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for the birth of Agnes McGannon (this is the spelling on her marriage certificate so assume it is correct). According to information on her death certificate she was born 1893 in County Down. She had been in New Zealand 75 years at the time of her death so arrived here aged about 18. Her father's name was Edwin McGannon but there is no indication she came with her family. I'm not sure where to go from here. Can anyone help please.

The civil registration index is online (free) but I can't see any Agnes McGannon birth in Co. Down (or anywhere in Ireland) around 1893 but you can have a look youself- www.familysearch.org (the index also includes variations so a search for 'McGannon' also skows 'Gannon', etc.).

The 1901 and 1911 census are also online but only 1 Edward McGannon shows up in 1901-

Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
