convent of the good shepherd 1911 blackley
« on: Saturday 17 March 12 20:11 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone,

Does anyone know anything about a 'convent boarding school' as it called itself on the 1911 census in Blackley greater Manchester? \It lists its pupils as 'inmates'!  I think it was probably the convent of the Good Shepherd but don't know for certain. The headmistress was called Eugenie Savage

My great aunt Elizabeth Welsh, aged eleven, is one of the 'inmates' yet her parents were still together and living in Stockport.
The family had one daughter still living with them but their other five children died in infancy.
Very puzzled by all this any info however small would be much appreciated

            Thanks

There is a Convent High School, Blackley Park, with Eugenie Savage,  Sister Superior as head.
