Does anyone have information about Backworth Collieries.
My uncle Frank Dack of North Shields worked for them around the 1940's

Hi Ann,
Durham Mining Museum has a lot of info. Depends what you're looking for, I suppose.

If you've been on the DMM site I'm sure you'll have figured out by now that the place is called Backworth.
Backwoth is how it sounds when we say it

Ah - I thought you'd gone phonetic
If you don't find anything of interest on DMM let me know and I'll see if any of my contacts have any info.
