Samuel Thomas Perry
« on: Friday 16 March 12 22:17 GMT (UK) »
I have an interest in Samuel Thomas Perry born 1904/5 but apart from him appearing on the 1911 Census which states he was born in Co Donegal I can find no other details online about him.
I believe I have found his parents/ siblings on the 1901 Census.  ATM it is him I am actually interested in, as I have just an approx DOB any suggestions as to where I should look next?  I would like to find details of marriage, children, death if possible.

Also does anyone know if Cloghfin(Castlefinn) Donegal and Urney East, Tyrone are close by?

Thank you.

Castlefinn is only about 5 or 6 miles from Strabane and closer to Urney depending on the route. There's a lovely map of Urney Parish here to show you the exact location-
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~tyrone/parishes/tl/urney_tl.html

For reference here's link to 1911 census entry-
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Tyrone/Urney__East/Urney/851416

Urney is in Strabane Poor Law Union and this is also the registration district. In 1901 the Perry family are living in Cloghfin townland, Co. Donegal which is in probably the one in Clonleigh Parish (also Strabane).
www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Donegal/Castlefinn/Cloghfin/1195383

These are the details needed to order his birth certificate:
Samuel Thomas Perry, July/Sept.1904 Strabane registration district, volume 2 page 278.

The online Irish civil registration index (which is where I got the birth) only goes up to 1921 for Northern Ireland counties but until 1958 for the Repulic of Ireland so you could have a look for a marriage or death there. See www.familysearch.org

Thank you aghadowey for the info re Castlefinn and Urney.

I was kinda hoping that someone else on here would  be researching this man or know of this family connection as atm I cannot find any other details on him since he appeared on the Census.  ::)

Hi, Samuel Thomas Perry was my Great Uncle (his sister Lydia was my grandmother). He died in 1982, was married and has 3 children still living with families of their own. His parents were James Perry (1859 - 1937) and Katherine Elizabeth Knox of Urney Park, Urney (1864 - 1950). I have the family history on Ancestry.co.uk as a public tree if that is any help. He never moved away from Urney and some of his family still live in the family house. He was always known as Tom Perry.  Out of a total of 8 children, as far as I can find, only Tom and Lydia married.

Hope this is of help, if you want any more info just let me know  :)
Jan
