Looking for Rothes Anderson after 1851
« on: Thursday 15 March 12 16:07 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for information on Rothes Anderson (female) who was born in 1837 in Gateshead.
I can find her on the 1851 census aged 14, living in Northumberland where she was a servant to a John Anderson.
On the 1861 census John Anderson was living in Sedgfield but there is no sign of Rothes.
I cannot find any trace of her after 1851, I have searched for Deaths and Marriages without any luck.
Anyone got any ideas.

Thanks in anticipation.

Brian

Could she have changed to Ruth?  There is a Ruth Anderson married George Hunter in 1856 on the 1861 census.  I see that she has been Rothus on the IGI  and Rothius in 1841 so she may have decided Ruth was simpler  :)

Hugatree

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
With your help I have been able to trace Rothes Anderson up to her death in 1897.
She appears to change her name to Ruth at the time of her Marriage.
On the 1891 census she reverts back to Ruthes, she dies as Ruth Hunter in 1897.
Thanks once again for your help, another mystery ticked off the list.

Brian.
