JELBERTE/JILBART/GILBART/GILBERT family - St Hilary
« on: Wednesday 14 March 12 16:13 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone have any connections with this family?

I'm trying to trace the parents of John Jilbart (abt 1780's-abt 1840) who was born in St Hilary. He married Catherine Allen in St Hilary in 1805. Their daughter Catherine is my Gt, Gt, Gt Grandmother. She married Peter James on 3/3/1834 in St Hilary.
On Ancestry and other sites I'm getting conflicting names for his parents! :-(
1.   Jacob John Gilbert & Elizabeth Boaden
2.   Jacob John Gilbert & Elizabeth Stevens m 25/7/1772 St Hilary
3.   Thomas Gilbert & Elizabeth Befill
4.   Thomas Gilbert & Elizabeth Bevil

I'd love any help that anyone can give as I'm well and truely stuck...............thanking you in advance!!  :-)

 some observations & questions -

Ancestry doesn't have parish records for Cornwall, so what you're looking at would appear to be other peoples' trees. Are there resources given for their info?

As John died before the 1841 census, how do you know he was born in St Hilary? He may have been of St Hilary at the time of his marriage, but this doesn't mean he was born there.

This could be his burial, giving a birth around 1782

Is this Catherine's sister marrying from the same address as the burial

Just checked & the Nobles are in the same household as Catherine in 1841

Do the names of the witnesses to the 1805 marriage help?

As the St Hilary parish records are online, have you tried going through & working out which children belong to Thomas & Elizabeth and which to Jacob & Elizabeth, then checking their marriages and burials to establish who belongs where?
