My uncle was POW at Stalag, I want to find out more.
Could someone give me advice of how to do this please.
I cannot find the address of IRO in Peth.

Ann if its ww2 then his record will be with MOD archives you could request a copy.

You would get his full service record if you applied for it...costs £30 though and a fair wait after applying.
If its just POW experiences dont think there would be much about it.The Red Cross may have info however they may be expensive and again a wait.

I have Frank Dacks Medals so I will try to get his service record.
I did this for another of my uncles but he was in the Navy I had them all framed.
I guess it would be a different place that stores the Army records though.

It is expensive but to have his photo, medals with a bit of history in a frame is keeps there memory alive.

As seems to be the norm in this thread - a wait is required.

I have seen both newspaper and web-site postings that the Red Cross 'accidently' found thousands of WW2 POW records and are digitising them. This was about a year ago, and the time-scale they had, I think, 'sometime in 2014' before they could begin uploading them. Where they are to appear was not apparent, but it is worth googling to find more on this subject.

You have to be next of kin to get the records from the MOD.  I had to send both my parents' death certs to prove that not only was my father deceased, but so was my mother making me next of kin.  I waited about 5-6 months for the records from memory.

MOD will provide certain info from his record even if you arent NOK you will have to supply proof the person is deceased (death cert) however you will be asking for info under Freedom of Information Act.
