Has data been removed from 1881 census?
« on: Saturday 10 March 12 11:40 GMT (UK) »
I have a family that includes James Reynolds Born 1833, Mary Ann Reynolds (1833), John (1859), Ann (1862), Francis (1864), James (1868) and Mary (1870). I am positive that in the past, I have located this family in the 1881 census living at 22 Wellclose Square, Whitechapel. I am sure that I have found this entry on both Ancestry and on the familysearch websites but now I am unable to locate them. Could this data have been removed or can someone else have more success?
Regards and thanks in anticipation,
Andy Wright

I can't see them yet in 1881, but the family you describe are living at 22 Wellclose Square in 1871.

I thought that I was absolutely positive, but then sometimes I think I am going mad! It might be the latter!

Does anyone know how to look up a specific address in the 1881 census, it seems so long winded and hit and miss on ancestry.

The 1881 census is the only pre-1911 Ancestry census that is indexed by address as well as name - its becos they took it from the LDS transcription.

Hi Carol,
Yes I have been trying but only bits of Wellclose Square are coming up, not including No.22. I wonder if its in another district, not Whitechapel. I am still trying but without success
