Hi my mother was Mary tipping.
Her great grandfather was john tipping married to Catherine both from Ireland and it appears to be the same family in 1861 census   in new monklands.

  Hi Saupere, my maternal 4xgt grandmother was Sarah Tipping, her mother Mary Tipping, Sarah was born in the York area 1776, i believe thier is an Irish connection to the name Tipping, just starting out on my maternal side, not sure how Sarah's name changed from Tipping to Tippey, just wondered if you have found any name changes with your search.
