Thanks Kris, can you tell me if 1841 is the furthest you can go back online other than the 1837 website ?????

1841 was the first census of any value to genealogists where names were listed even though the information contained is extremely limited. To get beyond the time of civil registration (1837) you will need parish records. You may find some of what you are after listed on IGI
http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp
or pay per view at
http://www.familyhistoryonline.net/
failing that you can order parish records to you Loacal LDS Family History Centre. For  a small fee to cover postage they will order the records in for you. They are extremely helpful and phone you to let you know the records have arrived. They keep the records a few weeks to allow you time to get in and examine them. All the best....Kris  :D
