Which battalion?

I think it was only the 1st Battalion that went to the Far East, embarking for Burma 9th May 1942.

they were in  india  29/3/1945  i have found out but they were stationed at kirkburton in huddersfield prior to going and im trying to find out when they arrived and left huddersfield and how there journey got them to india. I know its a long straw but we all have to start somewhere

Hi

The 2nd Bn Seaforth highlanders were reformed after Dunkirk and fought in North Africa Italy .

The 7th Bn Seaforth highlanders were a territorial Bn and didn't leave the UK until 6th June 1944 (D Day)and fought with 15th Scottish Division

My late father-in-law was in the Seaforths.
Before WW2 he on the North-West Frontier of India.
He was discharged and when WW2 broke out he was recalled to his old regiment and captured at St Valery on 12th June 1940.

The 4th Seaforths were in France in 1940. My g.g.uncle died on 4th June at Abbeville and so never made it as far as St. Valery.

I believe from what I have read they were part of the 51st Highland Division if that helps...
