Hi Rachael,
Thank you for your message.
Unfortunately the Hammon family tree has been difficult to put together and stops at James Pickering Hammon. We are still looking at how we can trace the Hammon name back further but it has been difficult.
If you would like any further information, please let me know and I will let you know everything that we know so far.
Like most family trees there are big gaps.
Kind regards
John & Vikki

Hi John/Vicki,
Sorry for my late reply - trying to remember everything Mum told me - James had a brother Peter?  A naval captain?  Hope my wires aren't crossed here.....Edward also known as Albert was my grandad's brother who moved to and lived in Australia - his grand-daughter (I think) has information and photos which we are waiting for via email.  She told mum James married twice.
I will be in touch as soon as she contacts Mum and we know more.
Regards,
Rachael

Hi has anyone had anymore luck tracing back James Hammon?

There is a person who claims on here: https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/changelog/GQ6N-JDH
Quote
The small biography published for John H. Hammon lists his siblings in birth order, placing James after Rachel. The age on James' death certificate indicates born 1822, although most other documents found provide a date closer to 1832.

However this tree lists a brother Peter Hammon: https://www.geni.com/people/James-Hammon/6000000015823824513

Hi jpnz123,

As far as I am aware there has been no further verifiable information on James Pickering Hammon other than what we have already found.

Can I ask what your interest in James Hammon is? Are you family in some way?

Kind regards
John
