Rognvaldson family and Winters family Grimsby area
« on: Thursday 01 March 12 12:39 GMT (UK) »
hi all,
I am Jenny from Iceland.

I am trying to find descendants of my great grandfather Valdimar Rognvaldsson born 1872 in Iceland, who moved to Grimsby in 1908, he died there in 1937.  His second wife was Annie Linford born 1882. I have found one daughter, Annie Rognvaldson born 1912 who marries Eric Winters in 1937.  If I am right Annie Winters born 1912 dies in 2000 in Grimsby.   Now I am stuck, Can´t find anything on Annie and Eric after their marriage..if they had any kids etc.    Anyone who could help.??? would so much appreciate it.
Thanks, Jenny

Hello and welcome to RootsChat

It is RootsChat policy to not post details of the living/possibly living - which any children of Annie and Eric maybe

There is a Private message facility to pass this kind of information away from the public boards - but you need to make 3 posts before the PM facility can be used

So if you reply twice to this post then anyone having information on your family will be able to PM you

Hi Wozzle,

I think "marine/Marina" was male and very possibly the child of a single mother

Hi
Nice to see people from different Countries joining us. Welcome

On my site I did find the death in December 2000 in Grimsby.
It seems that was the Mother Annie E born 1882 and she died
aged 78 years.   Its not the Annie child born 1912.

regards Sandymc

p.s. Annie born 1912 would have been Annie Winters at
death had she not remarried again?

Midgley, Fowler, Chadwick, Kilvington, Routledge, Hewitt, Stevenson, Ward, Waite, Binks , Buck, Pearson,  Stanley, Firth, Child, Hobson, Rogers, all Leeds and Yorkshire for centuaries except the Routledges from Wigton, Cumbria and Middlesbrough. Related to McAllisters of Wilsontown

Hi wow thanks for a quick answer.  Marino F. was Kristinsson he was the son of Agusta my greatgrandfathers daughter in Iceland.  She came over and had her son there, her husband was a Captain on an Icelandic ship. So he was his grandchild.. marino was a priest in Iceland and died in 1994.   I also know that my great grandfather had two other kids Valdimar and Maren with his former Icelandic wife they both died as infants.  Three of his kids died in Iceland  Agusta in´73, Gudmundur in ´69 and my grandmother Thora Jenny in ´73.
My great grandmother and Valdimar Rognvaldson divorced in 1908 after my grandmother was born and he went back again to Grimsby and Married Annie Linford in 1909.  Did not take him too long to find a new wife..LOL..  he Actually went to England with a British trawler, he was escaping from angry icelanders, since he helped the british to fish in Icelandic waters to close to shore.. That ship Royalist H428 from Hull had a captain Nielssen who was sentenced to jail on bread and water after an incident were two or three Icelanders were killed.  So My Great Grandfather was after that always hunted in Iceland and said to be a skanky man by the icelanders, thats why my great grandmother wanted to get rid of him..LOL..But I am told by familymembers that he was a very handsome, hardworking man that accepted to work for this Nielsen for good money, he had at that time three young kids and a wife to support and times were hard in Iceland at that time.

So now I just really want to know if this Annie Rognvaldson later Winters half sister of my grandmother had any kids with her husband Eric Winters.   Also if anyone in Grimsby might have known them. she seems to have died in 2000.  Not that long ago.

I have always been so curious about what Valdimar was doing in Grimsby.  And now I am dating a british guy from grimsby, who has been living in Iceland for many years.   last year I went with him to Grimsby to meet his family.  and will do again this summer.   Would be so great if I could locate and meet any relatives of mine as well over there ;-)
So thats the story..

All the best, Jenny..

Hi Wozzle - you may be correct re Marine F B - (his second name is "Fred") he was b Hull Yks

It may be worth Jenny looking at 1911 census (we are not allowed to post details (copyright etc)

I can only find birth reg and 1911 census for him

Also purchasing Eric or Annie Winters death cert may help - it would give informants name -which may be a daughter/son or relative -although I can't find any Winters/Rognvaldsson birth regs

Thanks again, you posted while I was writing.   all happening fast here.  So glad I found this site. ;-)

Yes, you are right,, Annie born Rognvaldsson 1912 died as Winters in 2000. She seems to be his only living child in UK.

Now I get while I am having so much difficultiies in finding information on living relatives, had no idea those kind of information were some kind of a secret.. LOL.

Here in Iceland this is so easy you just go online and with a click of a mouse you have all relatives living and can trace them back centuries..    Can even check if my facebook friends are on my friendlist ;-)

Wow thank you so much for all..  this is getting very exciting ;-)
