They held an open day in Blaen a few years ago in the community centre, it was a sort of book launch for a series of books about the history of Blaen and Ferndale written by Alun Clements, all the old school registers were there going back to the turn of the century, when I see Alun I will ask him where they are now

Hi Angel, not sure if you are still researching your ancestors from Blaen, I have found a good site on Facebook called "Sunny Blaenllechau" and it is full of old photographs and info on Blaen, one photo in particular is a school photo from 1912, the year your dad was there, certainly worth a look!
Best Wishes Bethan

I have a booklet that celebrates 100 years of the school, and as a past pupil (must have been 1951/2 I left) I found it quite interesting. Then I have copies of school certificates my late grandmother was given for the years 1886/1887/1888/1889 when she would have been around 5/6/7/8.

Thanks, Bethan, but I am a computer illieterate, and I just hang on to what I can cope with. I was in Ferndale last June for the opening of the Sir Stanley Baker Lounge at the Glynrhedyn, and from there I could look at my house in Commercial Street. I think there are three photos in the "Green, Black & Back" booklet from our family. The mountain up towards Llanwonno was the best 'playstation' us kids ever had, not forgetting picking wimberries!
Diolch yn fawr.
