The House of Corot
« on: Tuesday 28 February 12 15:06 GMT (UK) »
I have a Japanese Picture that has a label on the back saying it was framed by "The House of Corot" 13 The Broadway, West Norwood SE27. Probably 1890-1910 ish. I would like to know when this firm traded as it will help date the picture. I have not found any reference to "The House of Corot" on the net. If possible I would like the name of the owner of the business.

It looks as though the "SE" postcode was not divided into numbered subdistricts (SE27 etc) until 1917:

(Obviously the framing may have been significantly later than the creation/import of the picture).
