Sad to say, but since this was posted, there's been some confusion about whether Rev. William and his clan were actually related to my gt gt grandfather Charles Glendower Powell.  Seems gt gt grandad was telling a few "porkies", and we haven't as yet managed to either confirm or deny his tales.

Niceguy3399, I've looked through what records we had found on Rev. William, ... and I can't find either a George or an Emma Jane, ... nor do we have any obvious rellies who might have emigrated to Kansas, ... so at this stage, I couldn't say whether there's any connection.  If, however, you happen to know that George (for example) had a brother who called himself Charles Glendower Powell (we suspect that the middle name was invented when he reached Oz!) ... then we might just get somewhere

If you are still looking for Rev William Powell d 1863, I do know where a Rev William Powell died 1798 ( I believe he was your William Powell's father) is buried. I have photographs of his gravestone.

FindMyPast parish records confirm the record of a burial of Olive Mary Powell, of Abergavenny, on Feb 19th 1858 aged 79 at Llantillio Pertholly (Pertholey) Church and William Powell BD, vicar of Abergavenny (abode Cheltenham) on April 30th 1863 aged 93

Just to add that Ive been researching my family and one of my grandmothers several times great was a servant in the house of William Powell in 1851 in Monk Street Abergavenny!
