Do you know what denomination your Garland family were ?

The marriage and births you mentioned are all well before the start of civil records, so you will need to check to see if church records are available for the area this family lived. To do this you need to know what part of Co. Louth they lived - ideally the town, townland or parish.

Don't have your email address, so can't respond by e-mail and am not sure how to send a PM(personal message)

I am researching the Garland family for my niece. I believe Francis Garland who died in 1887 in Lynn, MA,USA was

her  gggg grandfather. The death records give Walter Garland and Catherine Clark as his parents. I am trying to

confirm this connection.

Will be happy to hear from you. :)

I never heard of RootsChat.Com until today.  I don't know anything about PM messaging and I'm sorry we can't just communicate by e-mail.  The policy reads I must make at least three postings before being allowed to use the PM facility - I've been researching this line for many years now and can probably help - so now I'll check out the Help-Page.

Regarding your comment - the children of Walter Garland who came to America were definitely Catholic.
