I request the help in dceciphering a Will I have found that I suspect will aid me in researching my family tree.

I Malcolm McFarlane Boot and Shoe Maker and Leather Merchant ____ Street Glasgow being desirous of setting my affairs in the event of my death have disposed and conveyed as I do hereby . . .

That's very close to where i started to get a bit fuzzy on it. I am mostly concerend with family member names, or dates and places.

Here's my quick go:

I Malcolm McFarlane Boot and Shoe
Maker and Leather Merchant Argyle Street Glasgow being desirous of setting
my affairs in the event of my death have disponed and conveyed as I do
hereby give grant dispone and convey to John McFarlane my brother in
the event of his surviving me and his heirs and disponees wheomsoever
heritably and irredeemably all and sundrey lands and heretages heri-
table bonds Railway Stock or Shares goods gear debts and sums of money
and effects household furniture and plenishing and stock in trade and in general
my whole means and estate heritable and movable Real and Personal
presently belonging and owing to me or which shall be belonging to me
at the time of my death with the rents and interest title deeds and securities
of my heritable subjects and the vouchers of my moveable estate and all
relative action and execution competent and in particular without pre-
judice to the foresaid generality all and whole my my pro... share of and
right and interest in all and whole that lot or area of ground in Dalintober
part of Ballieggrogan with the buildings thereon which area consists of
sixty nine feet in length fronting the Main Street of Dalintober two
hundred and twenty seven feet Backwards and seventy nine feet in
breadth at the north and bounded by the said Main Street on the South
By the Park sometime belonging to Hector McNeil on the north By
the march between the lands of Balleggrogan and the lands of
Aikmilbog on the east and by garden grounds belonging to David Stewart

Absolutely Fantastic work. No way known I would have got any of that on  my own, so thank you!

Although I only just realiased only a small portion can be deciphered on this forum. I might have to see what else I can find out elsewhere.

For information, This does help me link a brother that I have found records with a connection to Malcolm elsewhere, so thanks for the work.

Whether you post it in chunks or all at once is not the issue - my understanding is that you may not reproduce the work in its entirety, as the image is subject to copyright.  I have sent a message asking a Rootschat Copyright Editor to confirm this for us. In the meantime I am moving the other clips of the document to Quarantine - if it is later determined that I'm wrong, and it is OK to post them, I can then move them back to this thread.

Shaun, we all had to start somewhere.  By reviewing the section that has been deciphered for you, you should be able to learn what the letters look like and therefore "get your eye in" and start deciphering the remainder of the document.  There's nothing like being able to do it yourself - although we are here to help you get started, and help with any really difficult bits
