Flint baptisms: 1830's JONES
« on: Thursday 23 February 12 14:47 GMT (UK) »
A shot in the dark, in case someone has Parish Registers for the following Baptisms. I'm hoping to trace the name of the father, which I suspect to be John or Edward - but I might be wrong.

Thomas Jones  born Flint, Flintshire between 1837-40. Mother: Mary

Miriam Jones born Flintshire 1834/5  Likely to be Flint, Flintshire, but may possibly be Ysceifiog. Mother: Mary.

Many thanks for any information.
Jenkins: Guilden Sutton/Plemonstall, Manley, Bebington: Cheshire. Wales, Hawarden Fl
Hughes/Jenkins pre-1650 north Wales., possibly Anglesey/ or Huyish of Somerset.
Smith: Somerset, North Curry area.
Dawson: Birkenhead, Lancashire, and USA.
Lawton: Birkenhead, Wirral, Staffordshire.
Jones: Flintshire, Flint
Lea/Newnes: Chirk Mill, Penley, Hanmer, Worthenbury
Williams: Llanbeblig/Caernarvon.
Rowland: Llandrygarn, Anglesey.
Brew/Lewney: Isle of Man
Powell/Bennett/Forward/Coram: Somerset/Wellingto

Hello Wendy,
I had noticed that Thomas Jones 1836 Baptism, same parents names and chapel as Miriam Jones July 1834, but a slight discrepancy with the age of Thomas on the following Census:
1841 age 3    b.1838
1871 age 32  b. 1839
1881 age 44  b. 1837
1891 age 54  b. 1837

As the 1881/1891 Censuses (perhaps the most accurate ones), were taken before August, he would be 44 and 54 respectively, and from August in each year he would be 45 and 54, thus giving a birth year of 1836.

Thanks for the information, it's now looking a distinct possibility.

Kind regards
Philip

Many thanks indeed for finding that. I have that entry from Family Search.org, exactly the same, except mother is Mary Rowland, and Bryn Bychan is missing from Ysceifiog.
As you say, some checking is needed !

With much appreciation,
Philip
