Further to Charlotte21 answer above, this is some further information I have regarding Elizabeth Ireland
Maltman & family.
She was born 17th September 1895 at 14 Union Street,Kirkcudbright. Her father was William Maltland,
Occupation a hedger.Her mother was Mary Maltman,maiden surname Wallace.
Her father William Maltman was born at Lockfergus Cottage,Kirkcudbright on the 30th August 1864.
He was the illegitimate son of Elizabeth Maltman.The informant was her aunt Nicholas Maltman.
William married Mary Wallace on 3 December 1886 at Union Street,Kirkcudbright.
On the marriage record his name is recorded as William R Maltman.His occupation is a wood-cutter,
his age 22yrs.
Under parents details his mother is shown as Elizabeth Maltman,Occupation Domestic servant, age 25yrs.
He has a father shown as Henry Ross,occupation farm servant,deceased. ( Registered Father )
Williams bride is shown as Mary Turner Wallace,occupation domestic servant,age 25yrs.
Her father is William Wallace, occupation stone hewer. Her mother is Margaret Wallace M/S Moffat.
I have a photograph of a headstone at Kirkcudbright cemetery which records the following.....
William Maltman died 4 April 1918, 53yrs
His wife Mary Turner Wallace d 30 September 1933, 72 yrs
2nd daughter Mary Moffat d 2 October 1907 17yrs
2nd son George d Peebles 7 January 1923 17yrs
3rd son Wallace d 6 June 1923 21yrs.
