Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant - thank you karenlee, this is great news that until now has been completely unknown!  If you are able to go back any further even with John's father Charles Turner or Mary Ann's father James Hopes would be awesome!

Then according to the marriage between John Thomas Turner and Mary Anne Hopes, Mary Anne's father was James, so possibly a marriage somewhere between Sarah and James?

1911 Census has Matilda HOPES with her daughter Alice HOPES living with William WATSON who she marries in 1913.  Suppose that James A HOPES is her son too.
