I have recently come across a family of ancestors living in St Marks, Lincoln, and the men in the family were all involved with boats (not something, as an outsider, I had associated with Lincoln).William Jones in 1841 was a waterman, and on his daughter's wedding record (1847) was a boatswain. One son, Paul Jones, was in 1871 master on board The Exchange, at Burton-on-Stather (in 1881/91 he had become a coal merchant); the other son, Elijah Jones, in 1861, was master of the Two Sisters (I could not work out where it was), with his wife, 2 crew, and 4 young children. Can anyone give me (or point to sources of) information about Lincoln's boatmen in the 19th century? Are there any possible sources of information about specific boats such as The Exchange and The Two Sisters?
Many thanks
