George Cook 1841 census look up please
« on: Wednesday 22 February 12 17:17 GMT (UK) »
I know the chances of finding information off the 1841 census are limited but i wondered if anyone could find me George Cook born about 1817 in Sheerness. I know he married in 1844 in Dover so he may have been living in Dover in 1841 or Sheerness or around that area. Details of parent and siblings would be wonderful if they are available.
Thanks

If you get his marriage certificate it will give you his father's name and occupation, once you know this you can work backwards.

There is this one  George Cook to Caroline Ann Langley  Dec q 1844 Dover
5 - 195

I cannot see a birth on the IGI for one born in Sheerness.  :(

In that case  who was his father and his occupation then please, if we can find a marriage thus the mothers name we can then search for any siblings on the IGI.

He may not still be living with parents or siblings in 1841

I wonder if he's the one already listed on one of your other posts http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,354552.0.html

1841 High Street, Charlton, Dover

Stephen HUBBARD cow keeper 54 b.Kent
Susanha 50 b.Kent
Ann 26 b.Kent
John 20 carrier b.Kent
/
George COOK labourer 24 b.Kent
HO107/465 book 12 folio 5 page 2

According to the Kent Registration Services site http://extranet3.kent.gov.uk/sp/rois/home.html the code for his marriage is D11 .............. I believe this to be the code for Charlton parish church.

If you are unable to get the marriage certificate, ask Dover library if they can look it up for you (they do have a number of films for Dover parishes) http://www.kent.gov.uk/KCC.Libraries.Web.Sites.Public/LibraryDetails.aspx?aid=0&lid=23 ........... names of parents and witnesses would be useful.

It's a while since i picked up my family research and i forgot that i'd already posted regarding George. I'm not in the area, although grew up in  Kent so it's looking like i need to try and get hold of his marriage certificate to go any further with this one. Thanks for looking that up anyway, much appreciated.
