Hello Roy,

Do not know where you are in Canada but is there a Latter Day Saints Family History Centre you could
visit.  You can order films for Church Registers, this page may assist:-

www.familysearch.org/eng/Library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp

It is quite possible that Mathew Jackson originally came from Heage, so do take a look at the Belper & Heage
Independent Records, where you no doubt have discovered the possible birth of his wife Elizabeth Kenyon.
Most of the Jacksons who originate from Belper were Nailers, as yours has a coal related occupation it is quite
possible his origins are in Heage, its original name in ancient records is Highedge.

There is also a Jacksons Lane leading from Heage to Belper which you should be able to find on any On Line Map.
