handheld portable MicroFiche Readers (last few)
« on: Sunday 15 May 05 00:38 BST (UK) »
Hurry I am offering the last few readers to Rootschat members at the £34.95 plus £5.20 P & P (special delivery insured)
When these last few are sold there is unlikely to be any more. I do not have the time to assemble any more nor the starage space to store them so regretably my remaining stock is to be sold

Last year I spent some considerable time trying to find a supplier of quality handheld fiche readers. The only readers I found were in the USA and were rather expensive.

Some time later I  managed to track down the former manufacturer  of a fiche reader here in the  UK who has made available to me a limited supply of fiche readers which is their remaining stock.

Please send me a personal message if you are interested in purchasing a reader  or would like to ask any questions and I'll do my best to help

UPDATE

If you were considering ordering one of these readers please be aware that the next batch I shall be ordering will cost quite a bit more I'm afraid. :'(

I had mistakenly forgot to add the vat  and consequently have only barely broken even on the first 10 units sold ??? ::)

There are still 3 or 4 readers available on ebay in the geneaology section or you can place an order here by sending me a personal message. I anticipate a rise in price to approx £34.99 when I place my next order with the suppliers Monday 23rd May

Hi all
first two lots of microfiche readers sold like hot cakes. Thank you to all rootschat members who bought one or in one case TWO!... ::)

Price on EBAY (geneaology /family history section)  has unfortunately risen to £33.30 due to  ebay and paypal fees. A whopping (£4.78 !). :o :o :o

However if you send me a personal message with  an order I would be happy to supply direct to Rootschat members at £29.95 each plus £5.95 P&P special delivery insured .

Hi Earley-bird Nick
I've only just come across your mail but would like to order one of your handheld readers please if it's not too late.  How do I go about it?  I live in Spain.

Hi Scimitar
thanks for the interest.
There are two ways to purchase a reader.

I shall be listing some more readers later today on ebay in the Geneaology family history section
You could either purchase one through ebay and pay a little extra for postage or you can pay me by paypal direct .
The ebay listing charges cost me  £3.40 so if you pay me direct you can save that cost.
The price of the reader is £33.30 on ebay or £29.95 direct plus £6.25postage and packing
I post special delivery next day insured in the UK cost  £6.95 (incl £1.00 padded envelope) I would imagine I can post to Spain for about the same cost airmail but not sure if that price could include insurance. I'll ask at our post office today .

What is the quality of these compared to a desk model?

Hi Stonechat
you can't really compare the two really as one is a 12-15"backlit screen taking up half the desk the other is a tiny handheld portable which you place to your eye like a telescope or microscope.? ???

All I can say is that the image is clear and precise and the view is of a whole fiche page at one time.
I have sold  23 units on ebay and I have only had good feedback and praise so far.

The thing to bear in mind here is that the desktop unit is for using on a desk fixed with a 240 volt power supply.

The portable handheld is just that !.. Portable.  You can take it down the library or to the local registry or on holiday or anywhere in your pocket ! Use it with your laptop perhaps.

If you are disapointed return it within 7 days in same condition for a full refund less postage .

Please direct any further enquirys to me through personal message as I am not sure it is quite fair to discuss this on the forum.
Thanks

I am interested in purchasing one of your microfiche readers as Iam unable to use the desk top model as they make me very sick.  Please let me know how I purchase from you and how much it will cost.

Best wishes
Judy
