I personally haven't found the 1861 census record for the family - where were you looking, CaroleW? I haven't spotted him in 1841-51 either.

They are at RG9/1367/32/1 and are indexed correctly on ancestry.

The 1841/51 entries are not indexed correctly and are the other George I think.

I did look through all the 1851 census Georges b Bridport 1829 +/- 2 and none of them was a shoemaker, so no luck there.

OK, got 'em, thanks. They've been transcribed on the Allington OPC page as "Hussey". I never thought of that variation!
