Looking for baptism & death of John Stephens born about 1821, died before 1851. Also info re his parents? Father was James (occupation Bailiff), died before 1844. Also baptism of daughter, Emily, born about 1847 (St Michael 12 Sep?).

There is an Emily Stephens born Lyndhurst 1847 on the 1861 census. She is a step daughter of Thomas Sandy, and living in Southampton.
regards.

There are two Stephens children living (visiting?) with an Ann Judd in Pikes Hill, Lyndhurst, Hampshire in 1851:

Elizabeth Stephens, Age 5, b London, Middlesex, Pauper an Orphan
Emily Stephens, Age 3, b London, Middlesex, Pauper an Orphan

I hope this helps.

Yes I have that, it's the Lyndhurst connection that I'm trying to fathom. My guess is that their father, John, came from there & returned maybe because he was ill & became dependent on the parish. It would explain the girls' status.
