Family Bee Android app problems
« on: Saturday 18 February 12 18:06 GMT (UK) »
I've been using Family Bee on my Android phone for about a year - first the trial, then the paid version, with no problems. I export my GEDCOM from Gramps, store it in my Dropbox online storage, and import it to Family Bee.

Suddenly Family Bee is corrupting my GEDCOM - I have children in the wrong family, surnames missing, and my husband's grandfather married to my uncle.

Anyone else using Family Bee, and having these problems? And can anyone recommend another GEDCOM viewer? I have emailed Family Bee support, but no answer yet.

TIA
Dianne

Have you tried starting from scratch, remove Family Bee from your device, reboot it and then load it on there again and trying again to import your gedcom file.

Tried that a couple of times, but problem remains. However when I view the "corrupt" gedcom on my PC it's fine - so it must be something Family Bee is doing.  ??? I'd better try emailing them again - I haven't found another app that works as well as FB.

Spent the morning experimenting - and it seems to a problem when I create the gedcom. It's corrupt in several viewers, including the program I create it with. I've asked on the mailing list for advice.  :o

A GEDCOM is a simple text file.  The problem may lie in the way that some viewers are interpreting it.  You should be able to view it in a text reader and see the contents.
