Thank you Debbie. I've just seen the record but does that mean he was actually born there as there is a long delay between the birth and that baptism record?

As far as I know, there aren't any birth records at that time period in Quebec, only baptismal records.

Thank you once more valeriec. As there doesn't seem to be any record for Robert, then Gordon's record must cover his birth and baptism. It just made me wonder why the delay from birth to baptism?

I wonder if the delay was because he was born before the parents married.

Hi,

This William Guthrie was my Great Uncle, his brother John James Guthrie is my grandfather and Gordon Hislop Guthrie is my Great Grandfather. I would love to know what happened to William after he arrived in Canada as my family know nothing other than he got to Canada when he was 14.

I have his fathers birth certificate and Williams original immigration entry to Canada. Please get in touch if you want to know more details about his brothers and sisters, what happened to them and their children as I have a lot of details you will be interested in.
