Hi, I've just joined this forum after looking for information on Reformatory Schools. Does anyone have any information on the Saltley Reformatory School, Warwickshire, admissions circa 1861?

In 1905 this school changed its name to Norton Boys’ Home (also known as Norton School and Norton Approved School)
It would be best to contact Birmingham archives & heritage who are most likely to hold records:
http://www.birmingham.gov.uk/archives
They do have some general information on it here:

I have been (slowly) transcribing information from the admissions registers for Saltley Reformatory, so if you want information about specific people, just post their names and I'll dig out what I've got.

HI -
I've just found a possible relative living in the Reformatory School on the 1911 Census.
Where would I find the archives to visit to find this out? Birmingham?
I was aware that the relative in question was "a bit of a rogue" as it was described by one member of the family. It would help if the census information contained more than just their name. However, Albert Hill born in Wolverhampton and aged 16 fits so far with what I know.
Will archive information tell me any more? I was wondering if there would be an admissions book?

I think Birmingham archives is the closest, but see jorose's reply at the top of this thread for links to other suggestions.

I have just read this thread and am wondering whether anyone with local knowledge could help me.
I have a member of my family tree who describes himself on the 1911 census as an instructing tailor at a reformatory school. His address is Bordersley Green, Birmingham. Does anyone know if this is likely to be the same reformatory school?
