I think it's quite likely - any Dublin RC marriage records I've seen from late 1800s have both parents .. to mention but a few -

Malahide in 1870s
Fairview 1890s
Howth 1920s

I think there were new rules in 1860s(or so) in Dublin diocese .. and priests had to fill in each column in the Register

My grandfather was Henry Smith of Meath Street, born 1890,he had a younger brother Patrick and four sisters. My great-grandfather was also Patrick and great-grandmother was Julia. So I think this is probably the same Smith family you are looking for. :)

Wow!  As you can see its been a while since I posted this!  Thank you so much for the reply. Have you been able to find out any other information I don't have?  Do you know Julia's maiden name?  We were in Dublin in April of 2012 so I was able to get a little info from the records department. Was trying to do the research for my mom and found myself getting really into it:-). Any info you had would be wonderful!!!!

I only came across this forum yesterday by accident,so glad I did.You said you were in Dublin in April, where are you resident? Its a pity I wasn't on this a year ago,I could have met up with you and given you copies of all the documentation I have collected  :(.  Our great-grandmother was Julia Harrison before she became Smith. It took me a while before I found her because she was mistakenly registered under Harris instead of Harrison. When my grandfather Henry was born the family were living in Newmarket Street Dublin 8,so maybe they hadn't moved to Meath Street when your grandfather was born.I have obtained quite a bit of information, births, deaths etc,but I have not certified details of my great-grandfathers birth yet, there was a lot of men called Patrick Smith in the 1860's.Your grandfather was definitely living in Crumlin at one stage because his name and address is on the great-grandfathers death certificate in 1949.It is such a pity that my father has passed away because I'm sure he could have told you somethings regarding your grandfather  :-\

If you would like , you can PM me to continue this off the forum as I would like as much info as you are willing to pass along :). My mom married a US citizen so she moved to the US. I was born in Ireland but we moved here when I was a baby. I am going to assume that you live in Ireland?  It would of been wonderful if you had seen this before but I'm happy that you saw it at all!!!  We may be making a trip to Ireland later this year but that has yet to be decided:-). Is there anyway you could e-mail any of documents?  I would be willing to share any of my info but it seems as if you probably have much more than I do. I haven't done any research for a while so I'm a little rusty but now I will probably start with the research again. Thanks again and I'm so glad you found my post :)

Again , please feel free to PM me (You can just click on my username on the side and  you should just be able to send me an e-mail).  Also wanted to ask if you had any photos of your grandfather or your great grandfather?  Would love to see photos if you have any (not sure if you are able to send via e-mail  :)  I talked to my mom today.  She said she doesn't remember meeting your grandfather but she does remember her 2 of her aunts (your grandfathers sisters).   My grandfather had a son named Henry also and he named 4 of his girls after his sisters.  My mom said she never met my great grandfather but does remember a little about where he lived and what he did.
Once again, so glad you saw my post!!

I think it's brilliant to find new relations, something we wouldn't have had the chance of only for the internet  :D. Yes I do have a photo of my grandfather but not great-grandfather.I am not particularly skilled when it comes to scanning pictures and documents   :o, so I will have to enroll the help of my son for that, but I will get them to you. So is Patrick junior your mom's father? I hope the next time you visit Dublin we can arrange to meet up,or next time I go to the US.I'm sure you've already gathered my name is Judith, what is your name and your mom's name? I will definitely e-mail you and keep in touch so we can keep the Smith family going  ;)
