Henry Harry BOSTON of Cuyahoga, Ohio (1900-1920)
« on: Wednesday 15 February 12 02:39 GMT (UK) »
Hello, I am desperately seeking the death date of my ancestor, HENRY HARRY BOSTON.  He was born in England and I am guessing he would have died in Cuyahoga, Ohio as did his wife, Margaret Ann Boston (Taylor).  She shows up in the 1920 U.S. census in Ohio and she is listed as 'WIDOW'.  And I did find a death certificate for her on familysearch which stated that she died in the Lakewood Hospital in Lakewood.  She was transported to her previous residence in Toronto and buried there (without her husband).

I wonder whether Henry Harry Boston was possibly in the Second World War and may have died in Ohio during the war.  I can find NO trace of him, whatsoever, and I have looked in passenger lists and in Canada to U.S. passports (vice versa) on ancestry. Nothing shows up. Except for his widowed wife...travelling from Buffalo to Toronto and Toronto to Buffalo, N.Y. on short-term visits.  I also found a Henry Boston buried as a Civil War vet in 1899 (Ohio), however, he was born in 1855 and he was in Ontario during the Civil War.

Does anyone have any suggestions??!

Sincerely, Angela

Hi Angela,

What year was your Harry born ? Can see a Margaret Boston aged 66 years and widowed in Cleveland Ward 1, Cuyahoga, Ohio in 1920 with Norman and Margaret Crossen. Then a death in Cuyahoga 21 st 1966 for a Margaret B Crossen ((Boston) who was an Aunty to Margaret Boston in Ontario. Does this have a link to your family ?

Looking at one of the border crossing for the Margaret listed above - 21 st August 1944 she was visiting a son Harry Boston at 3673 Melbourne Avenue. Cleveland Avenue. Cuyahoga. Ohio and according to the index card died in the USA 2/3/45.9 (interred in Canada)
Looks as if she was just visiting Harry - could father Harry Henry Boston have died in Canada ?

(Margaret B Crossen. (Boston)  late residence 16522 Clifton Blvd., beloved wife of the late Norman, dear sister of Frank Boston of Montreal, aunt of Bernice Schaefer of Phoenix, Ariz., Evelyn and Margaret Boston of Toronto, W. R. Boston of Cleveland Private services and interment Ontario Canada. Corrigans Funeral Home.

Hi Sandra,

Thanks for your time and energy :) I appreciate all the information.

Henry Harry Boston (Senior) was born 1855 in Middlesex, England.  I know he immigrated in 1870-71 as I found him in the 1871 census of Canada as a lodger. And he married not long after.

You're right...perhaps he DID die in Ontario.  I could not find him among the online WWI database.  It's most perplexing.  For all I know, he may have died in England...or abandoned Margaret (as the rumor is).

Sincerely, Angela  :)

Wow thanks Sandra...I can't wait to add Virginia to my family tree  :) It is exciting to add any Boston family member!!! You rock!!!  ;) I am such a genealogy addict!!!

Thank you for all of your help.  If you ever stumble upon Henry by coincidence or have any suggestions of where I can look next, please don't hesitate to let me know!!!

From what you are saying, I think my next step will be to check to see if he is in a directory in Toronto (during the 1900's). Should one exist.  Maybe the Ontario Archives can help me too.

Mucho appreciated!!! -Angela0
