Welcome to Rootschat!

You will find Abraham's baptism on Ancestry, with an image of the actual parish register. He's  Abram Scholefield, father Benjm, abode Lindley, baptised 6 Aug 1775.

I'm not sure how you know he was born in Lindley, although I can see him living there on the census. There is an alternative Abraham father Miles abode Deanhead, baptised September the following year.

If you don't have a subscription to Ancestry you may be able to access it at your local library or Family History Centre. If you've got ancestors from the West Riding of Yorkshire it's well worth the money for the parish registers alone in my opinion.

Huddersfield baptisms are also on Findmypast, transcribed by Huddersfield FHS, or you can get a CD or booklets depending on the date, direct from Huddersfield FHS.

Thank you so much Anne. l was guessing he was born in Lindley as all the generations following him lived there, right up to my father in fact! We will be visiting the area(Lindley) from Canada this spring so hopefully l can find some more information through one of the websites you mentioned and who knows where it may lead. Thank you very much. Brian. COMPLETED.
